Raising students' awareness of bullying

Context

The MAE insurer has been working for years alongside the French Ministry of Education and Youth in the fight against bullying in schools by supporting the ‘No to Bullying’ prize. As part of this competition, pupils created an educational tool in the form of a game of goose, which MAE produces and distributes.

To modernise the game, keep pace with social change and ensure wider distribution, MAE decided in 2023 to digitise it, and VTS Editor software was chosen to make the digital transition.

Need

With the number of cases of bullying in schools on the increase, it is crucial to raise awareness among pupils, parents and teachers. The MAE, mindful of its mission to protect children and support education, has identified educational games as a relevant tool for tackling these sensitive issues in a fun and instructive way. However, to reach a wider audience and keep pace with changes in society, it was essential to modernise the game and make it available in digital format.

Solution

To meet this need, MAE called on Serious Factory to digitise its educational game. Using VTS Editor software, the traditional game was transformed into an interactive serious game. This digital version retains the rules of the original game while incorporating modern elements such as a virtual 3D game master, music and sound effects. What's more, it offers the flexibility of playing solo or in a group, making it easier to adapt to the needs of teachers and students.

Benefits

Digitalising the ‘No to bullying’ game has a number of significant advantages. Firstly, it allows for wider dissemination and increased accessibility thanks to its availability on various online platforms, such as the MAE, M@gistere and government flagship websites. Secondly, it offers an immersive and interactive experience that engages students more fully in the learning process. What's more, this digital version perfectly complements the physical version of the game, contributing to a more diversified and effective use of the educational resource in schools. Finally, this initiative demonstrates MAE's ongoing commitment to the fight against bullying in schools and reinforces its role as a major player in prevention and awareness-raising within the educational community.
