Metacognition
« Back to Glossary Index

Metacognition is also known as metacognitive pedagogy. It seeks to stimulate the thinking of different learners. The aim is to improve their skills and above all their performance. In order to find their own keys, these learners need to become aware of their knowledge acquisition mechanisms. By doing so, they will be able to optimise and organise their learning process in the best possible way. It is worth noting that in the field of psychology, Metacognition is defined as “cognition upon cognition”, i.e. “thinking about one’s own thoughts”.
