Informal learning
« Back to Glossary Index

Informal learning, in terms of digital learning, arises from the different activities of daily life. These can then be related to leisure, family or even work. Unlike formal learning, it is neither structured nor organised in terms of resources, time and objectives. Informal learning is also in most cases unintentional on the part of any learner. This is because the individual is free to set the objectives himself. It should be noted that, contrary to popular belief, informal learning is different from non-formal learning. The latter is intentional on the part of the learner, i.e. it is the result of the learner’s initiative.
