Distance learning refers to a method of teaching where students are not physically grouped together in a room, but receive lessons in their own homes or wherever they wish. Distance learning is made possible by the Internet.
There are various forms of distance learning, including videoconferencing, where courses are held at a distance but live. Then there is distance learning with free or fixed timetables, asynchronous, computer-assisted, hybrid or also synchronous learning. For the latter, the students are all in one place and the teacher gives lessons by teleconference.
